AKTU: 15,000 seats to increase under EWS quota, colleges’ affiliation subject to scrutiny by the board. Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) affiliated with over 750 institutions across the state will witness an increase of approximately 15,000 seats under the economically weaker section (EWS) quota in the new academic session. The university administration will admit students on these augmented seats in the admission process commencing from September 15th.

In the upcoming academic session, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), affiliated with more than 750 institutions across the state, will see an increase of approximately 15,000 seats under the economically weaker section (EWS) quota. The university administration will admit students on these augmented seats in the admission process commencing from September 15th. This decision was taken in the meeting of the Board of Governors chaired by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. JP Pandey, on Monday.

After receiving relief from the Supreme Court in the meeting, colleges were granted permission for affiliation expansion. Additionally, approval was given for the proposal to increase seats under the EWS quota by 25% as per the provisions of AICTE and government directives. Following the recommendation of the inspection committee, permission was also granted to increase seats in 85 institutions. Accordingly, education in courses such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, etc., will commence to meet the needs of today.

President Prof. JP Pandey mentioned that information related to the new engineering and pharmacy colleges has been sent to the government. After receiving necessary instructions from there, a decision will be made regarding them. In the meeting, Secretary Reena Singh presented the proposals. Present at the meeting were Finance Officer Sushil Gupta, Director of IIT Prof. Vinit Kansal, President of Chhatrapati Sahuji Maharaj University Prof. Vinay Kumar Pathak, among others.
